Walkthrough
- Soon after you visit Fort Deadlight, Serafen will want to talk to you and this quest will appear in your journal.
- Start searching in Fort Deadlight for information about Remaro's current whereabouts. Head inside the Court and speak with Syri to learn about Remaro. To do this, you need to calm Syri down first. Once you've managed to calm Syri, she will eventually tell you Remaro is gone, but his former bedroom is in the back and you can investigate it. To reach the bedroom, you will either need to fight through a lot of enemies, or simply complete the Blow the Man Down quest. The bedroom is right behind the tavern area and a dialogue will trigger as soon as you walk in. After listening to Serafen, your next goal is to reach Neketaka.
- Upon arriving at Neketaka head to the Luminous Bathhouse located in Periki's Overlook. Serafen will notice a boat captained by a famous shiphunter named Malnaj. They will ask you for information about Remaro. You can deny any knowledge, lie to her or give up the info (although this will upset Serafen). If You give the real information - this cancels the quest and ends it with failure. The only good thing about this choice is that you will receive 1,400 gold.
- Continue the quest by not telling Malnaj anything or by lying. Enter the Luminous Bathhouse and find Udyne in the main room with a pool of healing adra. Speak to her, and insist she helps by telling her Remaro was like family. She will finally tell you everything, and point you towards Sayuka.
- Head to Sayuka and search for any sign of Remaro or where he's gone. You will find Remaro just up the stairs from the docks. Make sure you have Serafen in your party.
- This meeting can end in a few different ways, you can decide to turn him in, or let him go:
- If you let Remaro go, he will give you the unique blunderbuss Fire in the Hole, thanking you for your understanding. Serafen will also give you a legendary hat, the Fair Favor that increases your critical hit chance when using most bladed weapons.
- You can ask Remaro about his involvement in trafficking slaves - the mas will confirm his participation. If you have Insight 10, you can figure out that he's hiding something when it's time to decide what to do between cutting him loose (Serafen insists on it) and bringing him to stand judgement before the Captains (he'll refuse that). In order to discover that his and Serafen's former captain - Bastian of The Sorcerer - had been selling the slaves they rescued, you need to have learned that the Príncipi work with slavers (requires completing Symbols of Death for Furrante and promising to help him). This will reveal the true reason that Remaro left the Príncipi, giving Serafen closure.
- You can force Remaro to get punished for his acts - you need to pass Insight 10 test combined with either Intimidate 5 or Streetwise 7. This is a very "dangerous" variant - it is possible that you can end up fighting with Serafen after having an argument. You will have to kill him. This means that you can lose this party member.
- Upon leaving Sayuka, Malnaj and her crew are waiting for you in their ship Misery's Delight, asking you what your excuse is for being in the place they tracked Remaro to.
- If you spared Remaro, you can lie about killing him, and then pay her Copper pands (cp)2,000 (with Streetwise 5 + Diplomacy 8) to leave you be, which will net you Minor Positive reputation with the Príncipi; if you have Serafen in your party she won't believe you and attack you. With streetwise 13/intimidation 10 you can tell her to stop testing you, since you work for the council, and she will leave you alone.
- If you killed Remaro, you can also choose to hand over the bounty, netting you Moderate Positive reputation with the Príncipi, and ending the quest.
- Otherwise, if you choose not to cave to their demands, a fight will ensue. Note that killing the Príncipi sailors does not affect your reputation. If you killed Remaro, and still have his head, take it to Udita, in Dunnage, Lifter's Refuge for a cool Copper pands (cp)4,000.
