Soul Blade is a Subclass of Cipher in Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire. Subclasses are a specialization of a main Class, and can be mixed for Multiclassing. The name of the resulting mix will be the same as it would have been for the primary class, regardless of the subclass you have taken.

Soul blades focus all of their energy on offensive powers and the use of their soul whip. Among ciphers, they are known for their aggression and short tempers, though not all soul blades have such a hostile disposition

Soul Blade Subclass Information

 Bonus:

  • Gains "Soul Annihilation" ability: a soul-enhanced melee strike that consumes the cipher's remaining power pool to converts it into Raw damage on the target. Shred Cipher spells cost less focus (-5).
  • Downing an enemy with a Melee Weapon temporarily grants Concentration (Prevents Interrupts) and raises Max Focus by +10 for 30.0 seconds.

 Penalty:

  • Max Focus is reduced by -5. (Combat starting amount as well begins at 2/25 vs 7/30 for Cipher)

Soul Blade Tips & Notes

  • See Builds for ideas on how to create strong characters
  • Soul Blades have lower max Focus, but will increase their weapon damage significantly, making it good choice for Multiclassing with martial classes.
  • Soul Blades don't possess any melee Abilities that aren't spells, so it is recommended that they Multiclass in order to obtain some.
  • Soul Annihilation is a Primary Attack, not a Full Attack, so will only deal damage with the Weapon in your primary hand. This makes it more effective with a Two-Handed Weapon than if you Dual Wield.
